“Here’s to the crazy ones, the misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers, the round pegs in the square holes… the ones who see things differently — they’re not fond of rules… You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them, but the only thing you can’t do is ignore them because they change things… they push the human race forward, and while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius, because the ones who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world, are the ones who do.” - Steve Jobs (co-founder Apple; 1955 - 2011)
I thought I wouldn't make today's Blogtober because I had to go outfield. Thankfully, they didn't need me to stay out there, so here I am, typing this entry on one of the computers at 11:23pm. I should be able to make it before midnight!Today's Blogtober Topic is on Steve Jobs. No surprise there. For those who don't know who Steve Jobs is (you should crawl back under your rock and die there), he was many things. For those old enough, he was created the first line of commercially successful personal computers. Although he is better known as the co-founder of Apple, and the visionary of the iSeries. Born in February 24, 1955, he passed away today, October 5, 2011, of pancreatic cancer.
I have never been a ardent fan of Apple. Yeah, I love the iPod Classic, iPod Touch and the iPad - they make for some extremely entertaining devices - but other than that, I honestly think Apple is over-rated and over-hyped, although Macvangelists would love to contest me on that point. Which is why my entry today isn't gonna be about Steve Jobs and Apple, but about creating an impact on the world, or as Steve Jobs said,
"I want to put a ding in the universe."
If you had a choice to put your own little ding in this vast universe of ours, would you want to? Would you want to be that person who's synonymous with a brand like Apple? It'd be awesome, wouldn't it? Of course it'd be hard to achieve a level of fame like Steve Job's because that's just a whole strata out of our atmosphere; or that of a Hollywood star. Just in your own little way. Like when you die, people would mourn you and remember you for the good that you did.
I think that as a person, you would want to do that, because I know I would. I would like to be good at something that I love. And I would like this little something be of use to not only myself, but to the people around me. I honestly don't exactly know what I want to do with my life, but right now, my dream (I don't dare call it a goal yet) is to own an empire. I want to own a successful corporation that people would come to appreciate and need and love and want.
I want to feel like I've contributed to the world, not in a small way, but in a (relatively) big way. I want to be able to set up foundations for causes that I believe in. Not only foundations, but foundations that actually utilize their funds properly to help the people that really need help. I want to have a voice in the big leagues to help make the world a better place.
Of course I'm not that much of an angel. I mean, you guys know me right? ;) The wealth and riches are my Achilles' Heel. I want to be able to spend money without a care. I want to be able to buy all the nice clothes in the world (yes, I'm a clothes whore; particularly blazers and boots - hint hint). I want to live in a nice, spacious house with a huge backyard with lots of animals. I want to be that filthy-rich-is-an-understatement rich fuck that everyone wants to be. I want to be able to jet to anywhere in the world I want to on a whim. I want to do whatever I want when I want to.
The above two paragraphs seem conflicting, and yes, I kinda agree. But I believe that with hard-earned money, comes the option to spend it however you want. However, you should also always keep in mind others that have paved your way to the top, and those that were born in the unluckiest of circumstances. Always give back. Charity keeps a little balance in life. And hey, it makes for good PR. Heh.
Jokes aside, having the power to change the world is a power and responsibility, as paraphrased from Peter Parker, and I would love to wield them. And if I were to somehow reach that particular level of power (and the accompanying responsibility), I guess I'd have to start doing something about it now, eh? Oh, inertia, the bane of my existence.
Do you want to put your own ding in the universe? Start making your plans. Now.
In other news, Brian May, guitarist and songwriter of rock band Queen is thinking of replacing ex (read: dead)-lead singer, Freddie Mercury with Lady Gaga (if you have to click on this link to find it who she is, once again, go back under that rock of yours and kill yourself - again). Read it here.
(P.S. Made it with a minute to spare. Phew!)
